Thread: Firm or soft, mattress?

Hi Mamasan, I'm erabarrassed to say this, but I didn't realize you couldn't turn it over until I went to do so. I find I have to rotate it every once and a while, because it seems to stay compressed after about a month or so if I don't. Other than that, it's a great mattress.

Sunset, I was very surprised that most mattresses today, you don't flip over!
I'm sure they won't last as long, but what can we do?
I do love this mattress, very soft and cushy, but firm underneath.

I too am on the hunt. I prefer softer myself. The docs will tell you to get the temperpedic (sp) or semifirm mattress. We recently went mattress shopping and I like one by Simmons, it is semifirm but has a great cushion to it that made in comfy-in the store. The experts tell you to find a company that will let you test drive it for 30 days at home. Also, negotiate the price. I never knew you could do this but these guys work for commission so they aren't really there to help you, they will just keep moving you up the line hoping you will choose a more expensive one. Also, if you write down the tag name, it will be different in every store so you won't find the same one. We googled selecting a mattress or something like that and couldn't believe some of the things we read.

I ended up with a Serta Plush top (non pillow top) it has memory foam on the top, but lots of coil support underneath.
