Are women or men more vengeful? Please discuss.?

Recently I've been studying a few issues in the field of gender studies. One particular subject of note was androcentricism (male-centeredness) and how masculine models of morality, such as justice and fairness, have historically shaped conceptions of ethics in preference to more feminine models which focus more on interpersonal relationships and the virtue of care.

However, I find that personal experience seems to contradict these presumed models. This is particularly apparent when it comes to women's views on Michael Vick's inhumane treatment of animals and on Tiger Woods' now infamous cases of infidelity.

Women (it seems) are more likely to wish ill upon people like Vick and Woods: even death. Men are more likely to give these guys a pass. Of course, women are more sensitive to the issues involving animals and infidelity; but this additionally makes me wonder if vengeance is an equal opportunity offender; and the respective potencies of said vengeances are the mere result compartmentalizations respective to gender.

So I ask: is vengeance a more male-oriented vice? Or do women's more emotional nature make them more likely candidates for harboring such feelings?

Intelligent answers appreciated. Random links to a baboon's behind are not.

As always, it depends on the person.

I think women are more vengeful.

Think of a male on male fight (or argument or what not) the most they'll do is talk s h i t, fight, and either avoid each other or let bygones be bygones.

But women, well we tend to talk s h i t, gossip, fight, turn other people agianst you, and we'll continue to act on whatever grudges we hold.

I'm sure this is not the case for every single person, just the majority.

we can put so much energy into "getting even" not being above property damage, slander, and other malicious actions.

as they say, "h e l l hath no fury like a women scorned"

Any fool knows men and women think differently at times, but the biggest difference is this. Men forget, but never forgive; women forgive, but never forget.

    No evidence for this.

*The many men who stalk, harass and sometimes even murder their x's aren't vengeful? What about the guys who shoot up school campuses, former places of employment, shopping malls, churches and gyms?
