HELP choosing between ipad or google android tablet?

I am totally new to the tablet market and have a hard time choosing between the ipad and the other tablets on the market (android market, etc.). I don't need all the fancy gadgets the ipad offers but I cant tell what is another good option. I want to be able to use Skype which I understand I need the 2.2 version in the android market? I don't know what in hell I am looking for. I want to be able to watch movies, videos (YOUTUBE) and play some games, check email, browse the web, etc. ANY SUGGESTIONS? These are the two I am looking at on ebay..which one is the better of the two for what I want?

Which one has better video viewing capability? More memory, etc....Sorry, i am just trying to find the best bang for my buck for my grandson that I adore more than anything! I know nothing about GB, HDMI, 2.2 android, etc.....THANK YOU ALL!!
