    Cartoon stars as SNL hosts

Suppose SNL was creating a landmark episode where, for the first time ever, (an) animated character(s) hosted the show. Who would you want it to be and why?

My vote goes to the Looney Tunes. Just imagine how hysterical that would be! Add to that Porky Pig singing "Blue Christmas" as a musical performance...

That's an interesting idea, but the network would never go for it. A toon hosting Saturday Night Live would be a hoot to see for about 15-30 minutes, but I don't think that the novelty would be able to stay fresh for an hour, let alone an hour and a half. Plus, animation takes longer to produce, so the animated parts would have to be made several months before the live action parts (which, according to SNL tradition, must be performed live). Having the actors play against cartoon characters would mean very long shooting schedules. Like the clay animation episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, I could see something like that happening once, but then never again.

Indeed. For the staple in late night, live comedy, it'd be physically impossible to do, live. We'd have a better chance at having "Weird Al" Yankovic either host the show or have him as their musical guest for that week.
