RMS Too High for Kicker L5?

My kicker L5 is rated at 600 RMS and 1200 max. Would a 900watt rms amp be too powerful?

of course not you could probably go 500watts over the max and not blow it

It depends, if your constantly running at 900watts(a good reputable amp)
you'll probably burn out the voice coils, or blow your sub eventually, if not sooner.
If you start to smell something burning, like rubber burning, then your running too much power into the sub.
