Ponyo to open on over 800 theaters.

They also have Tina Fey and Liam Neeson, those are great actors. I can put up with a Jonas Bro or two to get Neeson.

    So what?

It's like how Rattatouie had Patton Oswald, who's a bad-worded comedian, and he was in that rated G film.

Just pretend it's something like that.

Definitely. And she's even playing a role in Ponyo too!

Of course, don't forget Mark Hamill's Muska. That was my other favorite voice in the whole film.

Seems like a bad idea to me at least. Anything less than a small art house release is a guaranteed loss for a Ghibli film.

Definitely; whoever says that the Ghibli dubs are inferior should seriously give them another reevaluation; they are the stuff of fantastic dubs.

A loss? The movie has already made a profit in Japan and I seriously doubt the dubbing cost much. 800 theaters isn't really a wide release anyway, so they're not spending too much money on prints either. At the very least I expect it to exceed Spirited Away's $10 million by a sizable margin.

Alright, fine. I'll admit defeat. Perhaps I am being too critical because they bare the names of Disney's current garbage. Instead of criticizing, I'll go see the movie for myself first. :P

The only thing I find very grating are the unpleasable elitists who are prepared to scream how Disney has "butchered" yet another Ghibli film. It's like these people will never be satisfied. They carped for Laputa's leaRAB sounding too mature (I personally thought they did fine), yet they panned Totoro for casting two actual sisters the correct age for Satsuki and Mei, and now they're gearing up to hate the Ponyo dub for having two child icon stars the correct age for their onscreen characters. Go figure.

Give 'em a shot. I mean, My Neigrabroador Totoro, for example - Dakota Fanning and her little sister? Wouldn't have been my first choice. But they did a fantastic job - as good, if not better, than a lot of professional voice actors. And even if the main cast is mediocre, the supporting cast looks pretty sweet. They got Liam Neeson. And Cloris Leachman, too; she was one of the best in Laputa, no doubt.

Plus, even if EVERYONE sucks - it's a Miyazaki movie. You could watch it mute and it would still be a beauty.
