i thought arthur got cancelled in 1999 damn
If educational TV in general is what's being referenced, the longest-running educational ("E/I") show would be "Sesame Street" (on the air since 1969).
-B.
You forgot King of the Hill, South Park, and Family Guy.
No, Arthur first premiered on PBS Kids in October 1996.
I never expected this show was going to run this long, especially considering its an E/I show.
Ooops. I meant longest running animation E/I show. I really am glad it's lasted so long; there are a lot of dumber shows out there, and Arthur contains some innuendos and references that make it watchable for adults, too.
Arthur is a very cute and fun show, and I enjoy watching it if I happen to catch it. I haven't watched a new episode (that I was aware of) in years, though (I mostly see reruns) - though I've heard from some people it's pretty close to "jumping the shark" if it hasn't already.
Wow...
That means only The Simpsons has been running longer...
Ahem, Arthur started in September 2, 1996, not October.
