if anyone remembers, Simpsons parodied South Park in response to the episode "Simpsons Did It".

You can hardly call TDI obscure at this point. 2008 or so, yeah.
Users like Mesousa would be better at explaining it than me.
Total Drama Island is fairly well known to people who've seen it on Teletoon or on Cartoon Network, but TDI's popularity still has quite a way to go before it comes close to being equal to that of Scooby Doo, The Muppet Show, Ren & Stimpy, DBZ or Pok?mon. Not enough adults watch TDI for it to be parodied/referenced on a show like The Simpsons or King of the Hill.
Besides, how does one parody a show that is itself a parody?
The Simpsons should reference Invader ZIM. I can think of three topics about the show that can be made fun of.
1. GIR being on more merchandise than Zim or Dib.
2. How quickly it was canceled, despite cult popularity.
3. ZADR.
Okay, that last one would probably be parodied on Family Guy or South Park.
No. Way. Dumb idea, I doubt Simpsons, Family Guy, or South Park really give a **** about a cult children's cartoon that ended long ago and is relevant only to Hot Topic shoppers and DeviantART users.
Then again, the Simpsons did make a reference to JTHM where Homer went to heaven and exploded someone's head.
Well, South Park had an entire episode based on Hot Topic, so they could have expanded on the A story of Vampires with a B/C story on cult shows.
I want to see The Simpsons do a THOH segment based on Little Shop of Horrors. Sure, LSOH isn't a cartoon, but it'd still be cool.
I've always thought there was never nearly enough parody of Dr. Katz or the whole Squigglevision movement as a whole.
Or Retroscripting.
