Well you'd have to overcome that oil pressure with a higher concrete pressure obviously. Were not talking about a truck chute and fire hose here

it's costing BP mega $$$$ for the government to work and contain it....as well as the money they're losing in Oil and you suppose they're not trying hard to fix it?
If it's such a simple solution....don't you think they would have done it?
No one benefits from inaction.
Because BP is trying to dick around and reconnect to the pipe instead of just sealing the thing off and drilling a new hole. If they wanted to just seal it, they could have a long fucking time ago.
I know, I was being sarcastic Haven't they been continually trying to get the BOP to close?
The Gulf is fucked, say bye-bye to seafood
no way... if its cold enough to form ice crystals on the bell, the heated metal would almost immediately solidify itself. you ever seen a blacksmith work? i think the trickiest part is heating it in the first place.
BP has a live stream from the damaged riser. The link is on their main page.
Here it is:

edit: posted already
I believe there was talk about nuking it shut. Then somebody said they might blow up the world if they did that so I think they didn't want to try.
because we don't have tons of resources working on this. Shit isn't magic.
You are talking about a well 5,000ft down with a fucking oil rig on top of it.
so we dont have the capability to blow into the bedrock?
clearly im ignorant on underwater drilling and explosives, but these are reasonably solid ideas assuming we can do that.
