Bell to add six new HD Channels on June 10th

Unfortunately, the CRTC does not agree. As a National Service, Bell (and Shaw Direct) agreed to service many folks in smaller communities with their OTA channels. It remains a requirement of license. Similar rules apply to cable on a regional basis.

FWIW, the figure is closer to 70%. At least, Bell recently said "more than" 25% of its customers have HD service.

Complain to CTVGlobeMedia and Canwest Global -- they own most of the speciality stations and can't be bothered to put some profits into an HD signal. A good deal of their content is shot in HD; they just don't supply satellite or cable companies with a signal. Space seems a total no-brainer to me; but apparently there are no plans.

I've got them now. Looks like a guide re-alignment will be needed for these. Why would they put one on channel 900!?

Has anyone actually watched these channels? I know I haven't. Total waste of bandwidth if you ask me.

That's very cheap, lazy programming practices on the part of Sun. Rather than obtain an HD master, they take a letterboxed SD master and broadcast it on the HD channel. Global has a habit of doing this as well.

This is the transponder layout for 82. TP5 was the one being tested for 8PSK, but I can't tell if they're 8PSK or not with my equipment. Will have to wait for the uplink report.

Today no longer have golf channel hd (853) on the epg. Anyone know if this was a freeview which has now ended? I am still on the grandfathered $10 HD package.

From the comparison article on DigitalHome here, it says that Rogers has CBC Newsworld and CNN on HD, while none of these on Bell. I don't have Rogers here out west, and not sure if Shaw has it or not, but still would like to see it on Bell.

HDTV has been out in the market for 10 years now, and not even 50% of the stations are in HD as we speak.

And no 1080 yet, of course.

Let's wait patiently as competitions aren't doing much better either. (or you can go OTA).
