Foodography: "Cheap Eats"
Foodography is a Cooking channel cable TV food program. This episode
focused on cheap meals.
One place that was showcased was the "King Eddy Saloon" in downtown Los
Angeles (on the fringe of Skid Row). A combo restaurant, bar, music,
etc. There's cheap drinks and cheap food for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Strangest thing about the food is the entire menu is cooked in a
microwave. I didn't see banks of microwaves, just one. How the heck can
you keep a room full of customers promptly served??? A table of four
getting their meals minutes apart?
There's gotta be some strange looking foods on the tables, unless the
microwave has a "browning" feature.
There are many foods even I wouldn't microwave! I found the website but
it's nothing but an ad. I was interested in the menu items and curious
about how they'd nuke up. I'm guessing pancakes weren't on the menu!
Probably caters to real bums in the hood for breakfast and booze. It
didn't look very inviting. I was surprised they chose such cheap eats as
that place. However despite being a an utter and complete dive bar down
to the stench of urine, the yelp reviews were decidedly positive.
