Wood TW6-6 TW-555 Cam Dyno Test by Fuel Moto

So I dyno'd my 96" to get the proper tune on the fat cat as I was too far to the right. today I asked my tuner about the 555 and he sais look into the dave mackie 575. He does not like all the strain on the valve train with the woods cams. He admits it doesnt compete as far as WOT but has a better torque curve but I cant find any dyno sheets to back this up. Please feel free to educate me Iclick or Jamie or boogaloo or any one else with credible imput. Thanks guy's.

Man, I am way behind on this thread.

Jamie, those are great numbers on the 555. You guys really go the extra miles to get the word out on the best products and I know a lot of us appreciate it.

Can't wait to see the 107 numbers. I've got a 107 on my mind for a winter project, but I'm not sure if it will be this year or next. I'm liking cmssns GMR build. Nice numbers with the TD's!

Back to the 555's. I think these cams are shaping up to be the Wood cam of choice for a drop in on a 96. It's going to be great to see how these pair up with different builds.

Do the 555s have the wicked idle lope of the 6-6s?

If I remember right, I asked Jamie about my crank and he said it would be ok. Lets let him address the crank when he posts up the 107 #'s hopefully Monday.

I can tell you this, if I do heads and a good 107 kit and stuff (the crank) comes apart.....I aint gonna be happy and jamie knows that. He WILL error on the side of caution.

The cranks are generally safe to 115-120 ft/lbs. Much more than that and you run the risk of grenading the bearings or twisting the crank out of true.

I'm planning on taking my bike to 107, but I'm not going to go crazy with it.

And I generally don't do a lot of tire smoking burnouts, or big transitions from hard acceleration to hard deceleration.

Great example of the famous saying - "you don't ride a dyno sheet"..... Peak numbers are just that - peak numbers... and they don't tell you how the bike feels out on the street.

Dave Mackie 575? Are you sure it wasn't the Dave Mackie 510?

Well... way back when the earth was flat anyway, as soon as you did virtually anything that upped TQ or even if you just had the primary open, at least stick a better set of disks in there (Barnett at that time).

Sorry I'm so old so I hope someone else chimes in.
