I have the 6100. Is there any setting to change that makes the guide itself widescreen? I noticed that when watching an HD channel or watching an SD channel that has been stretched or zoomed, the guide itself is still SD (ie the right and left of my screen has been letterboxed out).

There is no option. It's a 4:3 guide only. Newer receivers have 16:9 guides.
