We are told to be ready to give an account of why we believe what we believe. That is what Christians do on this website. Is is not exactly debating, it is teaching and telling the truth about God and His Son.

1Peter 3:15 says "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

Intellegence is needed. Something that is extremely lacking when the topic is brought up

You're probably American and therefore enjoy freedom of speech.
Elsewise you're likely from another country that also enjoys freedom of speech.

That being said yes, you have the right to debate with someone about God... so long as you're not being "hateful". Hate crimes such as this are illegal, at least here in Canada, although of course, you're not going to be thrown into jail for life hurting someone's feelings a bit.

you cannot hold a debate and not lower God's name. you simply preach of his love shown to us in the cross, and try to show people that he is real and its up to them if they believe or not.
