Thread: Acid Reflux Coughing Up Acid

So I just woke up with a mouth full of acid. I had been suffering with acid reflux for years but tonight was VERY bad. I literally was coughing up acid and it burned my throat and felt like my throat and chest was on fire. Also a lot of pressure in my chest. I am on a regular medication Atenolol, but tonight I also took benadryl, Ibuprofen 600 mg, and Ativan. Maybe those medications did something? I heard drinking milk is good, then I heart it's bad for this? What about a liquid antacid? Any suggestions?

I have had endoscopy done years ago and a barium swallow. They found nothing wrong, but I do have the acid reflux. I take Omneprozol and it doesn't seem to help much.

I just woke up 30 minutes ago,this is getting old.I was in the bathroom coughing and gagging,chest heaving in and out with breathing hard.It is scary,coughing up some yellow looking acid that burns like u know what.I am on aciphex,couldnt remeraber if i took any yesterday so going back on morning dose.I was taking royal jelly that seems too help but i keep forgetting to take it at dinner with food.My lung is still hurting from last bout guess it will feel worse now,what do you do go on a lean mean diet i reckon.

My heart.. have you cut-out caffeine, chocolate, spicy fooRAB, eating after 7:00 pm and all the other little tips? I sometime sleep on a 6" wedge pillow.

HI..I'm Tom in Ohio... briefly... have you had an endoscopy or a barium drink and ex-ray? I have GERD's and neglected it for years. I now have an ulcerated esophagus and getting it under control with omeprazole and I also take honey and 100% organic aloe vera juice to help heal my esophagus.
If you have not had the tests..please do and certainly take precautions to protect your esophagus!

Yes, I have completely cut out caffeine, chocolate, & nicotine. It has been months now.

I read your post; how are you doing now? Have you been to a specialist yet? I suffer from a Haital Hernai and GERRAB but have learned to live with it and am feeling so much better! I am on omeprazole but also changed my diet and to protect and heal my ulcerated esophagus I take 100% organic honey and drink 2 oz. of 100% organic aloe vera juice.

I finally got sum 100 percent real apple juice and drank a small glass slowly last nite,to be honest i slept all nite and am feeling much better this morning.I even had a haraburger at lunch and dinner with 57 sauce,hope this is what i need to keep doing with the apple juice.

I keep forgetting to drink sum more juice but have not gotten it again.I do sleep on 2 pillows,man it is rough on my neck too.I do drink coffee in the morning but after that it is usually de caff tea and some water,back on night dose of aciphex cause one day when i took my morning pill it was like it did not work and took another that nite.I had heartburn all day until i took another aciphex,they are expensive.Good luck and happy new year to all.
