Here are my questions:
WTF is DRM?
Can it actually delete files without letting me know? such as "borrowed" MP3's?
If I have a 7800GTX 256MB card, with 3 gig of ram, am I good, or should I go ahead and get the 8800 GTX I want?
That is all

it won't delete shit
Are you lying?
How reliable are you with the name catch 22?
dude I have a 6800 GT and 1GB of ram and I'm pretty sure I'll be ahead of the game. New computers being sold with vista and the full aero experience don't generally have more than 1GB of ram and certainly nothing as good as a 6800 GT.
gft
im running a 6800gt and 2gb ram + p4 3.4ghz and the OS runs very nice.
DRM theoretically makes it impossible to copy DRM-protected material. It has no effect on, say, TV shows you download through bittorrent or mp3s or anything else like that since that stuff isn't DRM-protected. It's basically only going to be relevant to media that you have to purchase to download.
None of your files will get deleted. I don't know how this rumor got started, but it's utter nonsense.
With those specs, I bet Vista will run faster and more smoothly than 2000/XP. The old OS doesn't make effective use of most of that memory. Vista and Aero are not going to bog down your video card - a GeForce 6200 is adequate for Aero effects - although the drivers don't yet deliver 100% of the gaming performance you got under 2000/XP.
im on a 7800gtx with 3 gigs, it runs perfect.
I'm on an X2 @ 2.8/7900GT/2GB and it's every bit as fast as XP was. I didn't notice any big drops in FPS in games either (5-10 FPS tops). My only gripe is that PeerGuardian doesn't work with vista yet
The whole DRM on Vista thing is blown way out of proportion, all it really does is restrict Blu-Ray/HD-DVD and other hi-def content. Unless you're really assertive about your "freedom with your OS", you shouldn't have a problem.
Ok, so all my MP3's and movies I get with Oink and Supertorrents, I can still do that?
And I can still burn DVD's? Just Not Blu-Ray or HD-DVD which I wouldn't anyway.
