whats a good dance class to start with?

Me and my g/f want to do a dance class we are both 24 years old in decent shape not really fat or anything. We sometimes go to the club and dance alittle otherwise no other experiences. We are open to any style really just don't know if certain ones are better to start with then others

I'd personally say latin and ballroom, because then you can dance together. Also, most schools run classes which are all about having fun but also offer private lessons if you want to improve a lot. It's a very sociable dance and people tend to pick it up within a couple of lessons. It's probably the fastest of any dance style to learn, because the basic steps require very little unnatural technique. This is because it was never made up, but rather in the early 20th century, they looked at all the best dancers (who had just made up all the steps on their own) and wrote down what they did. As a result, the technique, especially in the easier ballroom moves, is how you would normally move if you were walking, eg heel first when going forward, toe first when going backward.
