Ducati Monster 695 or Ducati 696 as a first bike?

I have been researching good sport bikes to learn on. I came to the conclusion that I wanted a Monster. I am not sure which bike will suit me better. I am going to take the MSF course.
I am looking to get the bike in 2mos. I will be paying cash. The reason that I want a new Duc is for the warrenty.
I am gonna be riding this bike everyday that it is not raining or snowing.
I do have some dirt bike and atv experience.

What are the differences? They look roughly similar. Nice choices though

That's a pretty MEATY bike for a guy who hasn't even taken the MSF course.
As a first bike, it might be your last!
I suggest something a little less 'italian' for a beginner.
