Can someone explain to me how the wii remote actually works??

I'm kind of the tech guy in my group of friends and I've been asked about this a couple times lately....

I've just been saying "I dunno, but those japs figured it out. All you'll have to do is plug it in and it'll work."

Do you know if you have to calibrate the controller?

Does it matter the size of tv you have to play it on?

I dont care about the ps3 or xbox360 so please don't troll this thread with your fanboyism.

The Wii Remote is a one-handed controller that uses a combination of accelerometers and infrared detection (in conjunction with the sensor bar) to sense its position in 3D space. This allows users to control the game using physical gestures as well as traditional button presses. The controller connects to the Wii console using Bluetooth, and features force feedback, 4KB non-volatile memory and an internal speaker.
