    can you use a contract phone sim card in an old handset?

    my mum wants a handset like mine but its not available on the contract she wants so she's ordered the phone i want on the contract she wants and we are going to swap sim cards so she has my handset on contract and i have my pay as you go on the new phone-we are both with the same network but can you do this?
