    Since Moses wrote Genesis, according to Moses, Adam and Eve precede him by at least 2,500 years. I wonder how Moses could remember all that. Maybe...

    Moses got his knowledge from the Egyptians because as we know it Moses was found by the Egyptians and raised as one of them.

    For example Khnum, the Potter God who according to the gods of Egypt created man from dirt. The History and religion of Egypt predate Moses, Moses was raised by the Egyptians.

    Moses wanted a piece of the pie, was denied and so broke away forming his own sect. The miracles he learned from the Egyptian Mystery Schools allowed him to influence the ignorant illiterate Egyptian slaves into following him. And they in turn educated the rest of the Bible reading world.

    Moses was studying Tantra.

    In Christian lore, why exactly did God create the Forbidden Fruit and the

    Serpent to tempt Eve? and if eating the forbidden fruit gave Adam and Eve the knowledge between good and evil, then how can they possibly be held responsible for the decision to eat it in the first place? By definition, they didn't yet know the difference between good and evil.

    The Serpent was not created to tempt Eve, he was created long before God made Adam and Eve, he was the Arch Angel Lucifer who was cast out of heaven for thinking he was better than God his creator.
    Adam and eve were given the knowledge to know what was right and what was wrong, God told them of all the trees in the garden you may eat except for the tree of life and the tree of knowledge, had they eaten from the tree of life they would still be alive today but Eve was tempted to eat of the tree of Knowledge because God told them if they eat of that tree they would surely die and Lucifer wanted everything God made to die.

    If we are to believe that God has a plan, then it's apparent the fruit was placed there specifically for Eve and Adam to be one day be tempted by it. Even if the two of them, and the serpent, were unaware of such strategic placement at all. That's the response you should get. God has a plan and we're along for the ride. The christian story would be cool if it were real and actually happened that way. I enjoy picturing Eve with such an amazing body.

    I love this question because I know the answer! Adam and Eve are the male and female principles of creation.The ancient myth holds that evil, i.e., chaos came into the world when the female principle took the initiative in procreation, that is in the creation intercourse between the prototypical male and female. When the second time around, the male started it, the chaos started to make sense and cause and effect reigned. Or less complex, chaos was female, and order was male in the beginning of the cosmos.

    Yeah, they don't often think about those little contradictions in logic. The story is clearly allegorical anyway.

    @Ann-
    Yes, but remember, if they didn't know the difference between good and evil, they couldn't know that disobeying their god was wrong.

    but they weren't stupid either. they knew God had told them NOT to eat of it. There was another tree in the garden too, which God never commanded them not to eat, I suppose if they had remained faithful, they would have eventually come upon it and eaten -

    And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen 2:9)

    How many people on Earth really understood the exact meaning of the forbidden fruit, and the known Serpent who tempted Eve.

    The entire story was all about sex and Cain being the first born son of the Serpent not from Adam. Abel of course son of Adam but murdered by Cain.

    Now go and figure out how it happened, read the Bible and connect the missing link..wink wink.
