I've discovered two different versions of the Bold 9000. One that unlocks and one that doesn't (or at least I can't get it to). In the picture attached are the two different versions. The one that has the infographic for removing the SIM card is the version that I am unable to unlock.
I've tried the old 1.8.1.3 version of MFI and the new 2.0.1.3 with the same results. Here's what happens on the "un-unlockable".
Load up MFI and plug in phone.
In 1.8.1.3, the phone is detected and starts to go through unlocking process but stops after the initial upload and fails to reconnect.
The BlackBerry never loads and has a double flashing red LED.
In the new version (2.0.1.3) I need to use a custom .bat file that runs loader.exe and automatically loads the proper MFI (MFI-17584-032).
After this, I get the same result (double flashing LED).
If I load up MML and go to the options menu to try and clear MEP I get "Timeout. Cannot reconnect to radio..."
I've searched through these forums and others and have come across posts with the same issue but there hasn't been a standard solution (battery in/out, unplug at certain points, use this version or that, etc).
Can anyone explain why one version of the 9000 works and the other doesn't? Or, even better, if someone has a solution for the newer un-unlockable Bolds?
