The guy was psychotic. He had what is termed erotimania. He believed that Jodie Foster had a relationship with him, and tried to kill Reagen to impress her.

John Hinckly thought it would impress Jodi Foster, a young girl with whom he was hoplessly obsessed.

to be famous, many killers do it so they can be known.

There was this idiot by the name John Hinkley who thought it would please Jodie Foster if he shot and killed Ronald Reagen.

I don't like Reagen's policies or republicans praise of him and never will but its a sickening thought anybody would wanna assassinate a president when he/she has done no physical harm to that person in his/her life

he wanted to show that movie actress that he would do whatever it took to get her to notice him,read your history.
