Thread: Do web designers have to learn both php & javascript?

As a web design learner i need to know if it's wise to learn both php and javascript for scripting,will i need to learn both? or will learning just javascript without php be fine? ive done xhtml/css but i'm now moving on to the next part,and whilst i'm asking this do i also need to learn mySQL database,and Apache web server? both of these question's are on my mind all the time,so i need a good answer,thank's for your time and answer's.
