Thread: Why can't you go up the Statue of Liberty's Torch?

I know its closed but before 9/11 why can't you go up there. I read it isn't safe but can't we do something to fix it. Is the crown still punctured in lady liberties arm. Lady liberty is starting to look in bad shape from all the black firework marks. I think we should just like paint the statue with something that won't go green like copper but looks like shiny copper, it would look better compared to the weirdish green color. I consider we neglected the statue the minuet we saw it go green and didn't do anything. I know this would probably take like $200 Million dollars or more but she is an american symbol and would be worth every penny, and maybe hillary or obama can use those billions (trillions?) bush wasted in iraq to fix her. We have a african american and a woman running, an old guy will not win.

Structurally it is stable enough for its own weight but not for safe occupancy by anyone but authorized personnel. (Which means the folks who go up and turn off the torch lights when we get enough illegal immigrants.)
