Hello,
We are working on an experiment in which we have to bang a hammer against a block of wood in an empty parking lot to study the reflection of sound and how the echo comes back to us reflected from a wall.We had to space out the sounds we were making so that the echo would right in between the bangs. We thought that the speed with which the echo would come back to us would be the same with every rhythm we chose, but it seems like it's not true. I cannot seem to find any additional information online, so can you please help us?We have the times recorded, and we know what we have to do to determine the time between the bangs. But HOW IS THE TRAVEL TIME OF THE SOUND TO THE WALL AND BACK RELATED TO THE TIME BETWEEN CONSECUTIVE BANGS?I am interested in theory behind this because our group expected the results to be completely different. ) Thank you so much!
