Out of interest, what is the book it is based from? I wouldn't mind reading it before this airs

I think it's based on Andrew Merriman's biography Hattie:The Authorised Biography of Hattie Jaqcues.

It's an excellent read, but very expensive to buy.

Ruth Jones is on 'The One Show' later on so i'm wondering if she'll give any clues. But I think she's a fine actress and could carry off the part of Hattie Jacques easily!

I love Hattie and she was one of my favourites from the 'Carry on' era...so is anyone else looking forward to this biopic film? I can't wait

A really wonderful read. As is his book about Margaret Rutherford, Dreadnaught With Good Manners. Meticulous research, giving a real insight into someone we think we all know. Great stuff.

Most of the other Carry On big names have had films, documentaries, biographies, etc, but Hattie has somehow managed to avoid the limelight she so richly deserves. Seeing that photo, Ruth Jones absolutely captures the image of Hattie in 1963. The film is going to be a highlight of the year's telly, i think.
