I was thinking more of an "Xmas Special - Special" with like "Xmas Trimmings" where it was Waterloo road at Xmas.
Say with a School nativety play that went haywire, not the normal Series split!

Oooo Great!
Anyone want to guess where this will end up in the schedules?
I'd take a guess at Christmas Eve - offer something different to BBC1 which'll probably go down the comedy route.

5th paragraph.
A sitcom is probably my favourite genre so its disappointing to see so few hits coming through in the last decade. In the last ten years the only two big hits were My Family and Gavin and Stacey. Outnumbered is probably on the edge of becoming a classic but not there yet. So for a big Christmas Day sitcom the choices are limited. My Family peaked years ago but was worthy of the prime Christmas Day slot material. Gavin and Stacey now has made its cast and creators big stars so they dont need to make more episodes as much as the BBC wants. Outnumbered is probably a top contender for next year's big comedy. If they have no current top sitcom next year they may have to a what they did in 2007 and resurrect a show that hasnt aired for 26 years with The Manor Born.
I hope so but with Corden now a big star (in more ways than one ) added with his and Ruth Jones' feelings not to milk the show it may not happen, for a couple of years at least.
Im pretty sure the BBC have the rights to the show and another series couldnt be made for another network. Sky and ITV have been interested in getting Corden to sign a golden handcuRAB deal to prevent him from making more episodes with the BBC though.
James Buckley confirmed on Radio Five live when promoting the Inbetweeners that it would be back for a Christmas and Easter special. Both are being filmed around October/ November
That was a brilliant piece of Christmas TV. Original, funny, and moving. "I'm gonna be Mary!"
Every year I scour the schedules to see if it is on, as for a few years ITV would show it sometimes on ITV3. But then they stopped
So now I have the DVD and it is essential TV viewing in my house
