There's only so many ways a story about Daybreak's low ratings can be written, but the tabloiRAB are still doing so every few days. At some point they will surely move on to something else?

Paul McCartney was on there, to celebrate the re-issue of Band On The Run. Also Neil Diamond & Elvis Costello so it was a pretty heavyweight line-up last night.

New River Monsters starts in that slot next week



Considering how Christmas and New Years Day will fall on a Saturday, and Boxing Day on a Sunday, I wonder if they will wait until then to make up the missed half hour. If they stick to 11 half hour episodes over Christmas with the normal ones unchanged and Christmas Day an hour, that means New Years Day can only be 30 minutes, and nothing on Boxing Day. I don't think a Boxing Day episode is necessary (would be nice though) but just 30 minutes on NYD seems a bit short considering how there is usally a big New Years storyline

It's not particularly surprising that SCD's week-on-week rise was bigger than TXF's because it started almost half an hour later yesterday compared to last week. As we've seen with the breakdowns previously, 6pm starts tend to dent SCD's averages, but yesterday it began at 6.25pm and finished later so of course there was going to be a significant week-on-week gain. If there hadn't been a decent week-on-week rise, that would've suggested something was wrong.

TXF was in nearly the same sort of slot as last week and with 'Halloween' more likely to affect its audience (younger audience than Strictly), it's no surprise that its week-on-week gain wasn't as much as SCD's.

You're right that there'll be a few episodes of TXF coming up that'll rate below last year's comparable ratings due to all the Jedward hype last year peaking midway through the live shows. But I won't change the way I'll comment on the ratings.
