    Eat Pray Love

I am quite excited about this! It brings a story of a woman who decides that she is not happy with her life so she embarks on a trip of self discovery visiting Italy, India and Bali.

What are everyones thoughts on Eat Pray Love?

I'll probably see it, but I found the book to be quite self-indulgent. I'm not too pushed on Elizabeth Gilbert, and I don't think Julia Roberts is right for the role.

Movie Bob described this as Two Hours of watching some whiny rich chick eat pasta.

Someone will have to tell me if that's an accurate assessment.

Haven't read the book but the trailer didn't impress me.

I was waiting for the point - there didn't seem to be one, other than unhappy woman goes to lovely places and cheers up.

True, but Julia Roberts films sell. Most of her films have all been hits, just look at Pretty Woman and Erin Brokovich.

It's true her films sell, and as I said, I'll probably see his one out of curiosity. Doesn't meen it'll be any good though.

I also heard that Elizabeth Gilbert was paid an advance to go on this 'journey of self discovery' which made it a little false for me.

    Eat Pray Love

I saw it last weekend and I enjoyed it. Isn't going to win any awarRAB, but it was a great 2 hours of getting away.

I thought the cinematography and the way the scenes played out to be many times beautiful and inspiring in the first 2/3 of the film (the New York, Rome and Calcutta parts) but the end/Bali section seemed different to me (the "Love" part). Just seemed flat and predictable. But that should not stop you if you have an interest in this film. It's a Julia Roberts film. Many times her films are just enjoyable to watch, she may not be the best actress, but....

You can tell Julia is getting older now but if anyone has ever seen Katherine Hepburn in the 50s film "Summertime" where she goes off to Venice to find herself, it made me realize Julia could play this role down the line.

I think possibly it may be more of a 'girls' film even though I'm sure some men could like it, but also for me, there were parts that reminded me of my past. I went off to France several years ago to live, and that part reminded me of the international set of frienRAB I made being far from home and how one bonRAB with others in that situation, and secondly, I've always wanted to go off to India (I'm sure this is common with many people), but have always waited for the 'right time' which has never come (and I am convinced there is no such thing as 'the right time').

Anyway, in a film like this, there are bound to be cliche scenes and predictable scenarios. Like I said, don't go see it if you do not like Julia Roberts. It's a Julia Roberts film first and foremost.

    Eat Pray Love

She's not had a hit since 2004, before she took a break to have babies, Duplicity her big LEAD role did v poorly in the boxoffice, only 40m in US, serious ouch!! Valentines did well, but it was a huge ensemble cast, not her name getting bums on seats.

It's doing OK in the States,70m which is average, she's not the draw she used to be at all, I didn't like the book so won't watch the movie, but it was a Worldwide best seller, so should do OK.
