2-Disc Moulin Rouge: Dual Layer Pause

Can anybody tell me where the dual layer pause takes place on Disc 1 of the 2-Disc version of 'Moulin Rouge'? I was watching it recently and there was a pretty obvious pause in Chapter 12 (during the brief Hindi version of the song, 'The Sound Of Music') but it seems odd to have it there, interrupting the flow. Is this where it occurs or is it actually not the pause but rather a fault on my disc?

2-Disc Moulin Rouge: Dual Layer Pause

Studios dont look at a movie and say 'thats a good spot for the layer break', it just happens that that is the end of the layer.

I dont have that dvd but it sounRAB like thats the pause caused by the break if its a noticeable stoppage. My Minority Report DVD does the same, noticeable pause etc.

2-Disc Moulin Rouge: Dual Layer Pause

Hi, and thanks for your response. I appreciate what you've said but I can think of a couple of examples where the break has occurred at a more appropriate spot in the film (I don't usually remember where they do happen, of course! ). In 'Titanic', for instance, the break happens just after the collision with the iceberg when Captain Smith says to Bruce Ismay: "Well, I believe you may get your headlines, Mr Ismay". Then there is the following scene featuring Rose and Cal in their stateroom. Similarly in 'Sunset Boulevard' there is a break in the Region 1 edition where William Holden pulls down the blind in his room above the garage which signifies the close of the first 'Act' after he has spotted rats infesting Norma Desmond's drained swimming pool. The scene fades to black, then there is the pause and the commencement of the next scene. All of this seem to have been planned places in which to have the change of layer but in 'Moulin Rouge' it seems to occur entirely at random during 'The Pitch' when most of the cast are assembled in the frame and they are right in the middle of a 'Spectacular! Spectacular!' sequence (#The hills are alive , With the sound of music...#)! Very strange, which is why I have my doubts about it...

2-Disc Moulin Rouge: Dual Layer Pause

;7410927']This happens on a lot of dual layer DVRAB. I think the length of the pause is down to the player rather than the disks. My player pauses on quite a few disks (the LOTR trilogy disks all do it).

I think that some player can buffer out the pause, so it's hardly noticable, but a lot of players can't so your stuck with the pause.
