Actually we flattened a city by 'accident' so they would stop trying to destroy our airbases. Its a fairly shady incident where no one seems to know whether it was really intentional or not.

We bombed civilians first, and it was this outrage from Hitler that brought the blitz - escalation of atrocities that ment that we were saved from losing the one or two air bases, which without them we would have surrendered.

I was just watching a CNN documentary last night about how the French having been dealing with terrorism. The french have been locking people up for years with no trial. Several of them released years later after they were found to be innocent.

The french judges who have been given extra powers to deal with terrorism use those powers liberally in every sense of the word. Their view is ' better safe than sorry'. When it comes to locking up people for years with no trial , the french take the cake for it. The french judge even said that lf innocent people get caught , thats the price to pay for preventing terrorist attacks on FRENCH SOIL.

So you see my point when it is your country that is under attack , you will use whatever it takes.

So how come the euro press which has been so gleefully reporting on US tactics never reported on what the french are doing ?

Interesting how Winston's silence on this is deafening, isn't it?

Nope, that's not the case. My father was born of American parents while they were in French Indo China, which is now Vietnam. He was both a US and French citizen automatically.

Maybe a refresher course in verbs is in order. The word "would" is a third sigular PRESENT TENSE verb. It denotes possible current events, not the past. What France did 300 years ago is irrelevent...unless you have your own time machine.

I think there's a thread about that incident here, mae, that's been beat to death already. There's no use in trying to make people see that it was just a few soldiers that screwed up - they'll just scream that it's typical of all.

Hmmmm so how is it when a person becomes a citizen of the U.S. the first thing he or she does is say the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.?
