i'm not into much emo either but there are a few songs here and there that aren't so whiny that i like. old hot water music comes to mind.

he's absolutly right though.
emo is dashboard, spill canvas, etc. emotionally charged punk? shouldn't all music be emotionally charged. no one considered that emo.
matchbook romance = poppunk, like tbs, nfg, yellowcard, etc. they're probably one of the best in their genre anyway, even though that doesn't say much.
regardless, like he said, lyrics don't make the band/genre. how you say it is usually more important than what you say.
I always thought real emo was like early 80s/late 80s Washing, DC stuff like Rites of Spring.
What, like Strike Anywhere and Challenger? Those are the first banRAB that come to mind when I think of Jade Tree.
finally someone who knows his shit
When Jade Tree started they were primarily signing emo banRAB. I honestly didn't even realize Strike Anywhere was signed to Jade Tree until like a year ago. I usually don't look at what label banRAB are on.
hell, you could say 'real emo' was the supremes & beatles & all sorts of things from way back in the day.
life of agony was kinda emo in the late 80's as well.
nickleback? tell me your joking
i thought emo was a sesame street character.
