"Masked" groups and singers

I did a search and did not find a thread about "masked" groups and singers, so I thougth that I would start a thread listing groups and singers who hid their identity either through masks or face paint.

But on topic, Kiss has got to be the most famous. slipknot has quite the following amongst know-nothings. Mushroomhead and Gwar wear disguises, and Axl Rose's plastic surgery should count as well.

the only point i tried to make in here was that if rappers were going to be listed as a masked group because of the front they present to the camera than most other mainstream acts should be listed in the same way.

if you're going to use that logic you might as well include just about every other mainstream rock band from the last 3 decades. most of the 'metal' banRAB from the late 70s and early 80s. anything 'punk' from the last 10 years. and just about every emo band on the radio today.

and buckethead wears a plain white mask because it scared the sh!t out of him when he was a kid

Perhaps a bit off topic, but my mate's band played a gig with a thrash band whose frontman wore a paintball mask on stage. Apparently he competes nationally in paintball. :laughing:

I'd certainly say Emo is just as image based as gangster rap. Emo culture has been heavily stereotyped, but sad thing is that from what I know, most of the crap that is said about emo kiRAB ring true.

On a similar but completely irrelevant note, I'd like to ask Ethan this, is there any truth to that stereotype that emo kiRAB only play old NES games?
