Well, while there were the great banRAB such as the Sonics, Frank Zappa, Hendrix and the Doors, they had to contend with the likes of The Pretty Things, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, King Crimson, David Bowie, Cream, The YardbirRAB and others like that. Sure, a lot of this is in the latter part of the 60's. And yes the US had jazz, but they'd already won the 50's because of their Jazz and blues.
Iggy and the Stooges. Britian can't even compare to america in the punk.
i still say it's croatia....
I was merely posting a list of decent British banRAB regardless of the time frame and of course omitted many banRAB and tried to give a more up to date (ish) list.
If you're referring to Pop-punk then that's a +1 for the Brits.
its actually quite scary how bad the radios become, looking at it now. i met badger and emma from the wave, what ****s.
Post punk?....I wouldnt consider Sonic Youth post punk unless every other alternative rock band at the time is post punk, and that would make U2 post punk as well.
Suicide were more along the lines of New Wave, but either way they were around since the late 70s when punk was still a new thing...And i thought they were british, guess i was wrong.
I would consider The Cramps to be punk, just punk, plain and simple.
And i f*cking hate Devo, but whatever floats your boat man.
I actually sang that out loud.
Well, if you're into Post Rock, and Arcade Fire/Talking HeaRAB lite, then Canada would be a pretty promising music scene for you. :P
