Honestly, I think you're overplaying their influence on indie rock in the States. They were one of the key figures in the college rock movement, but they had contemporaries who I would argue were at least as if not more influential than Mission of Burma. Pylon's first two albums (1980 and 1983), namely, as well as The Feelies' 1980 debut record, and R.E.M.'s Murmur plus Chronic Town (1982) and their earlier singles.
