I have a iphone 3G and its always on the emergency call screen, its using OS 4.2 now and even when i put a sim card in it doesnt work, jailbreaking doesnt work either, please helpand yes i put the sim card in properly

Your iPhone 3G must be network locked. A jailbreaking is not required for this. You must unlock your iPhone from network restriction to use it with any GSM SIM card.
