    would people still like it?

Alright i'm really into british invastion rock, beatles, rolling stones, the who. I'm wondering if someone were to start a band today that was heavily influenced by rolling stones or beatles, would people still enjoy it, or is punk, hardcore, and metal what people would rather listen too today.

yeah i know there's Jet around, but I mean it'd sound like british invasion rock with its own twist.

    Beatles replication is impossible.

I don't mind Jet, they overdo the vocals a bit.

Well look at it this way.

Primal Scream release 3 amazing albums taking influence from rock , soul , dub , jazz , krautrock , punk , electronica & techno and not one person takes a blind bit of notice.

Then they release an album full of secong hand Rolling Stones riRAB and it becomes their biggest selling album since the last album they did full of second hand Rolling Stones riRAB.

    Go figure.

It already happens and I don't think it should.

People will listen to it if a band brings out retro-styled music, even though they shouldn't and in my opinion listening to new banRAB which re-hash ideas from 40 years ago should be illegal.

We already have lots of old music available for us to listen to on CD. We don't need new, old music.

As there are still millions today who listen to the beatles and the rolling stones. I think it would.

I agree with the others that they shouldn't overdo it by being copycats!

Oasis have made an entire career pretending to be the Beatles, so much so, that Liam Gallagher is convinced he's John Lennon
going off that solo effort of his.
Urban's point about Primal Scream is a perfect example.
And Supergrass did a passable imitation of The Who in their early work.

Agree with you there...to a point.
I'm against banRAB that obviously copy old stuff, especially when it's clear that is all they have going for them.
I tend to think it's fine providing the band add something new, or do it it a different way. Make it their own.
Again Primal Scream being a great example.
