I'm British and fact is, your wild claims are beginning to erabarrass me.
As good as The Who are and as much as I like them, I have to say they didn't just invent Rock.
Genres aren't invented.



A word about The Who being moRAB...like The Who, the mod movement began with black American R&B.
They didn't "become rock n roll" either, the genuine mod types continued through Soul, Northern Soul and more loosely, Ska.

Ok, so the sum and substance of your argument is not really about who INVENTED the sound, but rather who made it MATTER. And it's in that sense that you mean "invention".

In that case, you might be able to justify your position on The Who. But you should be more clear about what you are saying. The way you were phrasing it was as if to say that they invented the sound, the aesthetic and so forth, which is nonsense.
