Just out of curiosity, is this correct?

People who study of bachelor of medicine/surgery etc, do so solely because it is a requirement to entering medical school, which is a requirement to becoming an intern, which is a requirement to becoming a doctor?

So what about the people who don't make it into medical school? I understand medical school to be highly competitive, requiring a high GPA etc, etc, etc. Therefore there must be people who don't make the cut.

Is that the end of the road? Is there a backdoor to becoming any form of a doctor or medical professional?
Are there other professions available with a medicine degree?
Is there any use for it individually (i.e without further study in something else [e.g researcher])
