Bruford, Collins, Mason, even technically complex guys like Brann Dailor are fine with an 8-10 piece drumset. there's only a few knuckleheaRAB out there that have enormous sets, and a good bit of it arises from pretensions or insecurities they have with being normal. nobody neeRAB a set like Peart's or Bozzio's, and i'm willing to bet it hampers their freedom of movement more often than not.

christ knows the asshats using dual guitars could use a poke in the side too.

Indeed, ringo like him or not was one of the first drummers to play in that kind of style, such as using right hand drum kits but using his left head for lead, the matched grips, downtuning, muffling devices on tonal rings and highrise drumsets...Many techniques which he made popular in mainstream rock and pop music.

Yeah im not very knowledged in jazz but i do hear that jazz drummer blow away drummers of any other genre

I really like Dave Grohl and Travis Barker. The Fall Out Boy drummer is quite good too, (though you'll probably call me emo) and the current Foo Fighters drummer.
