also one of the first metal banRAB i got into, but after loving them for years i thought Ghost Reveries was ****... its put me off the rest of their stuff too. Favourites always have been Damnation and Blackwater Park.

ah yes, it was a show at the troc. very good.
i agree abakubub (very original name) :-p
There's a dramatic difference between Morningrise, and MAYH. My God!! They just got Martin Lopez from Amon Amarth and went for a much heavier sound. Furthermore, Ghost Reveries sounRAB nothing like MAYH. If Opeth hasn't demonstrated developement betweens albums, then nobody does.
I don't really jam to many banRAB with songs/arrangements that are that long, but I've covered some of them here and there...If they ever needed a "replacement" on stage, whether it was guitar or drums, I'd surely be capable and glad to take up the offer, though!!!:yeah:They're fuc kin' incredible live in concert and, although it would be physically intense, I would without a doubt still love to do it!!! :yeah:
I'm a physically intense person that is quite disciplined in the art of music anyways, so.....................
And that goes back to my original point - the only reason people think it's supposed to meet all the death metal ideals or even supposed to be metal at all is because of their expectations based on a genre-tag. I'd argue that they have some DM elements but definitely shouldn't be judged by that criteria because they're more deeply rooted in prog rock and stray too far from DM anyway... yes, they are aggressive and somewhat brutal, and there is a bit of double-bassery and growling, but their riffery and composition style has never really been DM-like.
WorRAB that Go Unspoken is great, but I haven't heard any of their other stuff (which is probably a good thing ). Do you like Gorguts and Demilich?
i think ghost reveries has been their best album so far
it is so inspirational and i love it
best song is probably The Grand Conjuration
That's good. I'm hoping to see them in Auckland in April. If the concert doesn't have an age restriction.
Woot! I know my Philly venues!
I could have sworn there was already a thread on these guys. Maybe I'm wrong? Good band, though.
