yeah i wouldn't tune a single coil guitar lower than D. going down to C pretty much necessitates hurabuckers.

your also right that Page was more of a Les Paul player but just like Hendrix sometimes played a Gibson they were never 100% exclusive to their main models.

Page is a riff master, ergo, rhythms. Just because they also did solos doesn't mean they couldn't play rhythm.

Worst singer? You are crazy. I think the best Rhythm guitarist is the duo Janick Gers and Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden. They basically invented harmonizing with the guitar. Or it would Malcolm Young of AC/DC.

When a band only has one guitarist then usually that person has to fill the roles of both a lead and rhythm guitarist, the use of overdubbing is common.

I didn't know what I would say when I clicked on this thread, but since you reminded me of Maiden I'll go with that. Janick Gers and Adrian Smith created some truly addicting guitar riRAB. It is hard to not enjoy the good Maiden songs because of them. Flight of Icarus anyday...
