I've just read most of the posts in this thread and I must say... forums can be harsh...

I'm almost positive that the artists who make the music aren't thinking in their head....
"This album I release is going to put me over Hendrix... Page... etc..."

Frusciante is a very spiritual being, he loves music for what it is
"Music is the face of God"

He is my own personal fave, for my own reasons... although I would suggest to someone to listen to him, I would let you be the judge...
I would'nt insist on him over throwing your fave because of my opinions...

I would hate for any of the artists to read threaRAB like these, where they are compared and then raped upon by the posters because "my guitar god is better than yours..."

Love music for what it does and what it is...
That's what the musicians do and that's what makes them great...

Hope this clarifies where we stand in music today and where the artists do...

This appreciation for his 6 solo albums that he did in 2004. I love all of them. Inside of Emptiness is my favorite. He truly is a wonderful guitarist and musician.

I love John Frusciante's creative playing probably more than another other guitar player in history. I believe he's on par with Hendrix. (a modern day Hendrix) Not only does he have tons of great solo albums but all of his RHCP music from Mothers Milk on is fantastic. Please tell me your opinion on him as well...!?

people that call frusciante a shredder are way off the mark.

shredders are cold and calculated and can go from 0 to fret melting in the first bar. there's still some passion and emotion but it's centered around getting attention. LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT HOW FAST I'M PLAYING! ARE THEY LOOKING AT ME YET? COME ON LOOK AT ME!!!

on the other hand when frusciante starts letting it rip it's because it's built up to that point. he'll spark and smoldered until his soul finally catches fire for a brief moment. if you happen to be there then you got to share in something special. if not, well you can always hope to catch the reflection on youtube but it'll never be the same.

the shredders, will, sound the same.

as far as i'm concerned he is most definitely one of the best rock guitar players from his generation of musicians.

I don't agree with the Hendrix thing at all, but he is one of the best of the generation indisputably and certainly ranks high on my list, although their music is so mellow it often bores me, they need horns!!!
