If I buy a domain, will people be able to WHOIS me?

Before I can buy my domain, it asks for my name, address, city, postal, email, etc. If I enter false information will people be able to use WHOIS and see the false info, or does it get it through other means? Can they revoke my domain if I enter false information?

I simply can't afford a $10 WHOIS guard, as I'm buying this using ad money from my previous site.
Thanks for the information so far, I don't want to get in trouble with my ISP nor do I want to risk losing my site. I'll just use a subdomain for now, unless I get any more information.
Thanks fruit, have you personally used that site before?

It is strictly advisable to not provide fake details while domain registration. You may have chances to get your domain cancelled. The only way to hide your personal information from public view is to register your domain names under private registration. You need not worry about affording extra to hide your details. You will get free contact privacy on domain registration from www.WhoisXY.com . The domain registration here is very low in cost and they provide best customer support.
