Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnackh), the BURZUM mastermind who was convicted of murdering MAYHEM guitarist Oystein Aarseth (a.k.a. Euronymous) in August 1993 and setting fire to three churches, has confirmed that his new album Den Hvite Guden (The White God) is set to be released in Spring 2010.

I was talking about Heathen Front not being racistic and antisemitic organisation. So, even if Varg is a racist, who cares? Where in his songs can you see that? I'm not marrying the guy, I just like his music. I don't need him to be Mother Theresa for that.

When you listen to music, MUSIC is the only thing that you should have in mind. I don't agree with Varg in most of the things, but he makes great music. I can't wait for the new album.

I always felt Vikernes crossed a line that musicians should never do. What a complete a_hole. Reading the title I though he was born-again, but after checking out the link it seems he got some good prison sex.

I can understand not wanting to give money to Varg, but to suggest that his music should not even be heard or appreciated in an artistic sense is not only absurd but slightly fascistic as well. I love Richard Wagner's music but that does not make me a nazi. I love Rage Against the Machine but I have no desire to violently revolt against the government.

Art and politics are two different things; anyone with half a brain can understand this. To be opposed to allowing people to think independently about these things is in line with the most anti-democratic spirit of censorship, and I'm surprised to find someone I would think to be fairly well-educated and Internet-savvy holding such a view.

i can see where you're coming from, but i don't, nor do i plan on, paying for anything released by burzum. and even if i did, i do not think it supports vikernes' views, which he would hold regardless of his income from burzum. listening to his music doesn't mean one supports him, because there is no inherent connection between the act of listening to and enjoying the music and the act of agreeing with his social/philosophical beliefs.
