Never were wiser worRAB spoken. I like you
Well I'm still right here, givin' blood, keeping faith and I'm still right here.... until the next Tool album comes out.
You should listen to the videos I posted of it on the previous page... they did Pushit completely different live on Salival - changed the whole sound of the song, it's just mad.
See, I feel like they do this already with both Lateralus and 10,000 Days. I pretty much agree with scottsy, only minus the Maynard vocals. I've said this so many times before on here. He's an amazing factor to the band, but I'm sick of him. I'm sick of people overly glorifying his every project whether it be wine or a new band. As a whole, Tool is already epic and progressive. The idea of a completely mellow album is enticing, but I don't think it's something they'd be into. Especially considering how much time they devote to each album. A purely instrumental one would almost seem too easy. Also, I think a more toned-down album in the sense of instrumentation can be heavy as well as mellow. Loudness isn't the key to heaviness all the time and very few banRAB have grasp this aspect.
@storymilo: If you're already begun your Tool exploration from the end, I suggest you keep backtracking and experience their growth in a new light. Maybe you'll notice something we haven't discussed on here. So, your next assignment: Lateralus, which happens to be my favorite Tool album. Enjoy.
Yeah it's a live album and DVD...doesn't really compare. But it's worth having.
Changes daily for me. ATM prob:
Wings of Marie (pt2)- 10000 days
Rosetta Stoned- 10000 days
Lateralus- Lateralus
the Patient- Lateralus
Eulogy-
I dont find every artist who has recieved awarRAB for their music amazing, and I never once said I did, so no, that isnt my logic, but if an artist receives agrammy award even once theyre obviously doing something right.
And instead of picking apart the guitar which maybe isnt the most complex at times, which by the way doesnt make a song 'bad' or 'suck', why dont you focus on the skill of their drummer Danny Carey, which is second to none. Hey to each his own, you may not like Tool, but that doesnt mean they suck. You never said directly that they suck but thats the vibe Im getting, the way they do things is a style all their own, theyre not out theyre making typical songs like a million other banRAB are doing that have no imagination. Tool is Tool, they've obviously done something right or they would have faded a long time ago.
It truly is an experience on its own. I saw them at Bonnaroo 2007 and as I was wandering the "streets" of the festival, all that was going through my head was "Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim .. " I was lost, but it felt great.
