How is Bo Diddley not rock?
And no I dont consider BB King a rock guitatist, just pure blues. Granted there are a handful of blues guitarists on this list like Johnny Winter but thats because they do have rock material and their sound is more blues rock than pure blues.
In the same sense I added Allan HolRABworth and John Maclaughlin, who are probably more thought of as Jazz guitarists but they have a handful of rock material and an overall rock oriented sound, and no Pat Matheny wasn't an oversight, just in case that comes up.
Like I said in an earlier post, nice list. When I first read it, I was a bit surprised that BB King and Buddy Guy weren't on the list, but I read your above explanation and accepted it. THEN, I heard BB King and Buddy Guy together on the Grammy's (with John Mayer and Keith Urban), and was blown away by Buddy Guy especially. So, I'm making a pitch for Guy to not only be on the list, but to be in the top 10! If you consider Stevie Ray Vaughan as blues rock, then Guy HAS to be, too. Just take a listen to tracks from his latest album--there are 3 songs on this site, and especially "Best Damned Fool" rocks.
BUDDY GUY :: SKIN DEEP :: ZOrabA MUSIC GROUP
If that isn't blues rock, then I'm...well...heterosexual. Attachment 3155 I'm willng to draw the line with BB King as strictly blues, but Buddy Guy is a maniac on the guitar, and it ain't just the blues....
thanks
Not a Cream fan eh?
Sunshine for your Love was pretty badass for 1968, c'mon now.
from about the mid-80s to the mid-90s
this is like the 3rd of your posts i quote tonight, i'm starting to wonder if you're trolling or just really need a clue.
regardless of his influence over a generation cobain was acutally pretty freaking talented. he wasn't a virtuoso but what he lacked in technical chops he made up for in raw emotion. that's what made him stand out so much, his sound was raw and real. and like khfreek said, his lead style was unique, unlike the multitude of wankers that pick up their guitars with the intent of playing guitar instead of music.
considering the man single handedly influenced a generation of kiRAB to pick up an instrument and play music AND wrote great songs they could all start off with. he most definitely IS one of the top 200 guitarists in rock.
He's nuraber 100.
I missed that, yeah B.B's top 50 at worst.
More than anything else Morello was very innovative in his technique and an very creative guitarist.I think we'll be seeing more of his influence in the future than we do today
