Why does salt bring a cricket back to life?

My step dad drowned a cricket, and then took it out and poured salt on top of it. It then came back to life and was perfectly fine.

Has anyone else done this before? I am not making this up. Is there any explanation to this? Please get back to me. I an puzzled. I feel like a moron.

the salt absorbs the water from the spicules (little holes that the cricket breathes through) so that the cricket revives it was never dead, it just passed out from the lack of Oxygen
