    Motorola Flashing Howto

    OK this is how to load PRL onto MOST Motorola phones. Please add to STICKY so people stop asking!!

    You need to have Motorola PST for these instructions. I am telling you only how to after you have installed all the proprietary software that you aren't supposed to have. Google is your bestest friend, you can find these things out from there.

    1. Open Motorola PST's Phone Programmer before connecting phone
    2. Once Phone Programmer is opened, Connect Phone, wait for computer to beep like 5-10 times
    3. From the File menu select Open->CDMA PRL
    4. Browse to your PRL file and open it
    5. Select write to phone
    6. If Security Code is needed, cancel and follow instructions below
    7. Reset phone
    8. ALL DONE

    To Retrieve Security code (and reset to 000000) you will also need P2k Seem (i am not responsible if you mess up your phone on this one!)
    1. Leave Motorola PST open so phone is in correct USB mode
    2. Open P2K Seem
    3. For seem enter 0055
    4. for bytes enter e
    5. read from phone
    6. in the main part you will see a 6 digit code at the top on the right column
    7. put your cursor clicky clicky on the first nuraber and punch 0 six times to write over nuraber
    8. choose save to phone
    9. now your SPC/security/sublock code is 000000

    edited because google is the place to go for a lot of things.

    SPC=MSL=SUB-LOCK

    OTKSL=SECURITY CODE

    but that's just terminology.

    verizon post-paid comes with spc of 000000. pre-paid does not. you're probably not making that mistake, if the phone has an SPC i think you need to know it to change it.

    Motorola Flashing Howto

    Had to be problem on there end.. We always have problems here with OTA Programming here no matter what the phone is.. Cricket's OTA isnt the greatest Manually programming the phone is the fastest way to program a phone.... Try this next time you have a phone that wont over the air manully program the phone then OTA the phone...

    I have noticed that sometimes if the phone's MDN and MIN is not at least a loacal area code it will not program but as soon as i change it to a local area code like 8015554213 it works.

    I wasn't trying to say you were doing it wrong. Just that if by default, on a Cricket branded hanRABet its 333333, why not use that? I'm in the Dayton area, one of the oldest markets.

    I did not know that on VZW Pre-Paid phones the MSL wasn't 000000. So that may have been part of my problem.

    I don't ever manually program the phones. I don't want someone calling me after I flash the phone saying they changed their nuraber, and it won't program OTA.

    right the explanation we were given was that the file containing the spc's was corrupted and they were waiting for a new file from kyocera. i have done *228 in other markets on my phone and it works just fine, so i'm not really sure about the area code thing? you're supposed to be able to OTASP in any cricket market to download roaming PRL.
    Yeah i can manually program a lot faster than the minute or so it takes to OTASP, but when i am in store activating accounts, it's better to call *228 and set the phone down while doing other things like explaining billing or something. plus manual programming won't download roaming prls.
